Panel 1:
Scene: A big sports stadium scene labelled “Maryland Relief League”. Governor Wes Moore stands at the pitcher’s mound, in a baseball uniform with “MD” on his cap and “Governor” on his jersey. He’s looking confident, holding a football instead of a baseball.
Caption: “Governor Moore: ‘Don’t worry folks, I’ve got this!’”
Panel 2:
Scene: A close-up of Wes winding up to throw. His glove is empty. The audience bleeds into the background, some holding signs: “SNAP families waiting”, “Still hungry, thanks Governor”, “Relief where?”
Caption: “Step 1: Pitch perfect leadership… right?”
Panel 3:
Scene: He throws the ball—but it’s clearly the wrong item: a giant loaf of bread labelled “SNAP Relief” slips out of his hand and flies past him in mid-air, while he looks surprised.
Caption: “Oops! Wrong ball.”
Panel 4:
Scene: Meanwhile, in the outfield, people (Maryland residents) look on frustrated and hungry. One holds an empty grocery bag: “Excuse me, governor?” Another shakes a fist: “When’s the delivery?”
Caption: “Meanwhile, the folks who were counting on relief watch the plays.”
Panel 5:
Scene: Back at the mound, Moore is scratching his head, pulling out a press release document from his pocket labelled “Photo-Op Strategy”. Behind him a big banner reads “Leadership” but the banner is sagging, and the “L” is falling off.
Caption: “Back to the podium: Answers not for your questions, but for the cameras.”
Panel 6:
Scene: Final shot: The loaf of bread (SNAP Relief) lies unattended on the field grass, dust particles rising. Wes Moore is walking off the mound, waving to the crowd, giving a thumbs-up and saying “Mission accomplished!” A resident facepalms in the stands.
Caption: “Mission accomplished… if your mission was dropping the ball.”
