If this feels familiar, that’s because it is. Brown has turned the Office of Attorney General into little more than a branch office of the Democratic National Committee’s legal division, filing lawsuit after lawsuit against anything stamped with the Trump name.
The Pattern of Political Theater
Friday and Monday brought fresh announcements of Maryland joining lawsuits spearheaded by Democrat attorneys general from Rhode Island to Oregon. These suits will no doubt be touted as “standing up for victims” and “defending clean energy,” but in reality, they fit neatly into the ongoing pattern: Maryland tax dollars funding Anthony Brown’s political theater.
Brown’s press releases drip with high-minded rhetoric about “supporting survivors” and “advancing climate goals.” But let’s be honest: this is less about Maryland’s citizens and more about feeding his own Stage Four case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
What He Missed While Tilting at Windmills
While Brown was busy drafting legal briefs against the Trump administration, Maryland’s own house was crumbling. The Real Priorities
Crime victims in Maryland don’t need lawsuits against Trump; they need safer streets and effective support systems. Families struggling with energy bills don’t need grandstanding press releases; they need policies that actually work without bureaucratic bloat.
But Brown, ever the partisan warrior, is more interested in flexing his anti-Trump credentials than solving Maryland’s problems. Every hour his office spends on another multistate lawsuit is an hour not spent fixing broken policies at home.
The Bottom Line
Anthony Brown’s obsession with Donald Trump is a distraction—one Maryland can’t afford. When the Attorney General treats the courtroom like a campaign stage, Marylanders lose twice: first by funding frivolous lawsuits, and second by being left without competent legal leadership where it actually matters.
Perhaps if Brown weren’t so blinded by his Trump fixation, he might have warned his Democrat friends about the constitutional train wreck that was the digital ad tax. But that would require a focus on law, not on politics.
And that’s something Anthony Brown simply doesn’t have.
