No, Senator Van Hollen — You Owe the American People an Apology

Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen, like so many in the modern Democratic Party, has once again shown us where his priorities lie—and it’s not with the citizens of Maryland or the United States.

Appearing on CNN, Senator Van Hollen had the audacity to suggest that President Trump owes an apology—not to crime victims, not to grieving American families, but to an illegal alien who committed crimes in Maryland, Tennessee, and elsewhere. You read that right. A United States Senator defended a criminal non-citizen over the law-abiding citizens of this country. Welcome to Joe Biden’s America.

Let me make this perfectly clear: Senator Van Hollen, it’s you who owe the American people an apology.

You Owe an Apology for Supporting Open Borders

The chaos at our southern border is not an accident—it is a design. A result of deliberate, reckless policy decisions made by you and your party. You voted for sanctuary policies. You supported slashing border enforcement. You cheered when the “Remain in Mexico” policy was scrapped. And now you’re shocked that violent criminals are walking across the border, blending into our communities, and destroying lives?

This isn’t a “right-wing talking point.” It’s a reality.

Just look at the numbers:

• In 2023 alone, Customs and Border Protection arrested over 30,000 illegal aliens with criminal convictions, including homicide, sexual assault, kidnapping, and robbery.
• According to ICE, from 2020–2023, there were more than 350,000 illegal aliens arrested for criminal offenses — including 1,900 for homicide, over 14,000 for sex crimes, and 42,000 for assault.
• In Montgomery County, Maryland, there were at least seven cases in a single year involving illegal aliens charged with rape and sexual assault—most of them shielded by sanctuary laws your party champions.
• In Tennessee, an illegal alien previously deported six times was arrested for driving under the influence and vehicular homicide after killing a father of two.
• In Florida, a 13-year-old girl was brutally stabbed to death by an illegal alien who had been allowed to stay under lax border enforcement policies.
• The killing of Kate Steinle in San Francisco is still fresh in our minds—a young woman shot dead by an illegal alien who had been deported five times and protected by sanctuary city policies.

And Senator Van Hollen wants Trump to apologize?

The Constitution Does Not Protect Illegal Entry

Senator Van Hollen, you said you’ll “never apologize for defending the Constitution.” So please, enlighten us: Which article? Which clause? Where in that sacred document does it say that illegal aliens—people who break federal immigration law the moment they step on U.S. soil—have the right to remain here, receive government benefits, and avoid deportation even after committing additional crimes?

Because I’ve read the Constitution, and I must’ve missed the “illegal alien amnesty” section. What I did read was this: the Constitution exists to protect the rights of citizens, and to ensure the rule of law. Something you and your party treat like a dirty phrase.

I Support Legal Immigration — Not Lawlessness

Let’s get something straight: I’m not anti-immigrant. My own brother is married to a wonderful Japanese-American woman. Her parents immigrated here legally in the 1970s. They didn’t demand handouts. They didn’t sneak across the border. They worked, paid taxes, respected our laws, and raised three children—each of whom is a productive, law-abiding American professional.

That’s the American Dream. Earned. Not handed out.

The people I oppose are those who cut in line, violate our sovereignty, and then expect to be rewarded. I oppose the politicians—like you—who welcome them with open arms, then turn around and lecture the rest of us about “compassion” while American families bury their loved ones.

We are not heartless. But we are a nation of laws. And no nation can survive if it refuses to enforce them.

Senator Van Hollen, you claim moral superiority while defending criminals who have no legal right to be here. Meanwhile, citizens in your own state live in fear, and victims’ families wonder why the law is on the side of the perpetrator.

Let me remind you—and the rest of the political elite—that America’s kindness is not a weakness. But our patience with politicians who betray their oath and endanger our people is running out.

So no, President Trump doesn’t owe an apology.
You do.

You owe it to every legal immigrant who waited in line.
You owe it to every family shattered by an illegal alien crime.
You owe it to every hardworking American footing the bill for this lawless chaos.
