I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this for a while now, and every day it gets weirder. At this point, the Democrat Party seems less like a political party and more like a group therapy session for anarchists, radical activists, and folks who think rules are just polite suggestions. Honestly, I’m shocked they haven’t launched a protest to get NBC to cancel Law & Order—all versions—because apparently anything involving actual consequences for crimes is offensive to their sensibilities.
Let’s just call it what it is: the modern Democratic Party has declared war on the very concept of law and order. They’ve gone from “questioning authority” to “burn the precinct down and release everyone in holding.” And what’s their latest grievance? That the Department of Homeland Security, under President Trump’s directives, is—brace yourself—enforcing immigration law. Oh, the horror!
The “Good Trouble” Charade
Last Thursday, in cities across America, we witnessed what was laughably branded the “Hundreds Bring ‘Good Trouble’ Rally” on the steps of various State Houses. “Good trouble,” of course, being code for “anything that opposes enforcing actual laws.” These people were proudly protesting the idea that foreign nationals who broke U.S. immigration laws and, in many cases, committed additional crimes on U.S. soil, are being sent back to their countries of origin. That’s right—they’re angry that criminals are being deported.
This wasn’t a rally for civil rights. It was a rally for lawlessness and disorder. I’m not saying that everyone there was a felon-in-waiting, but when you start glorifying illegal behavior and treating criminality as some kind of revolutionary act, don’t be surprised when your movement starts to attract the wrong kind of people.
When Did Enforcing the Law Become “Racist”?
The Democrats have rebranded every form of law enforcement as inherently racist. Immigration and Customs Enforcement? Racist. Border Patrol? Racist. Local police? Definitely racist. DHS? Might as well just call them the new Gestapo, according to the talking heads on MSNBC.
News flash: illegal immigrant and legal immigrant are two completely different things. One followed the rules. One didn’t. And if you can’t make that distinction, you don’t belong anywhere near public policy.
The Democrats’ Real Fear: Accountability
The reason the left despises Law & Order—and, more importantly, the actual concept of law and order—is because deep down, they hate accountability. They believe feelings trump facts, and intentions override outcomes. If someone’s “lived experience” tells them that they feel like they’re entitled to be in America, the Democrats say, “That’s good enough for us.”
You’ll notice they only like the law when it serves their purposes. Try not wearing a mask during COVID lockdowns? You’re a threat to humanity. Try starting a small business in a city without jumping through 47 layers of Democrat-run bureaucracy? You’ll be fined into oblivion. But cross the southern border illegally? Well, welcome, brave soul! Here’s a taxpayer-funded lawyer and a plane ticket to a sanctuary city!
This party, the one that once said “No one is above the law,” now makes excuses for every kind of lawbreaking as long as it serves their political goals.
Trump: The Law & Order President
Say what you want about President Trump—and trust me, the left says plenty—but the man has been unapologetically committed to law and order. Under his administration, DHS is finally doing what it was always supposed to do: protect the homeland by upholding the law.
Approximately 1.4 million individuals in the U.S. have final orders of removal but remain in the country due to various factors, such as official discretion or inability to be removed. These individuals are part of the larger group of approximately 11 million people living in the U.S. without lawful immigration status, commonly referred to as “undocumented”.
Within these categories, Trump has ordered ICE to focus on the subset of criminal illegal aliens subject to an order of removal—those who have been convicted of crimes like assault, DUI, rape, or worse—and send them packing. And even that has sparked outrage. Why? Because the Democrat Party has apparently decided that no one should be deported. Ever.
Think about what that means: illegal alien, gang affiliation, prior felony conviction—and the Democrats think we’re the bad guys for not wanting this person living next door to us? What happened to protecting Americans? What happened to national sovereignty? What happened to common sense?
The Sanctuary City Scam
Democrat-run cities have proudly declared themselves “sanctuaries.” But not for you. Not for law-abiding citizens. Not for victims of crimes. No, they’re sanctuaries for criminals—people who broke into this country and want to stay no matter what.
These cities refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. They release violent offenders back into the community rather than hand them over to ICE. In any other context, this would be called aiding and abetting criminal activity. But in Democrat fantasy land, it’s called “compassion.”
Crime Pays (if You’re a Democrat)
In many of these cities, Democrat leaders have slashed police budgets, enacted no-cash bail laws, and essentially tied the hands of law enforcement. The result? A surge in crime. Armed robbery, carjackings, assaults—all up. And the response from Democrat mayors and city councils? Crickets. Or worse, apologies—to the criminals.
If your policies consistently protect criminals over citizens, guess what? You’re anti-law and order. And if you then attack the people who are trying to fix the problem—whether it’s DHS, Trump, or local police—you’re not just complicit. You’re part of the problem.
Law and Order: The Franchise They’ll Cancel Next
At this rate, I’m half expecting NBC to announce the cancellation of Law & Order: SVU and replace it with Law & Order: Compassion Court, where every defendant gets a participation trophy and an apology for being held accountable. “We’re so sorry, Jorge, that our ICE officers found out you’d been deported twice and were arrested for drug trafficking. Here’s a government apartment and a Target gift card. Please don’t feel judged.”
You think I’m joking? California is already floating ideas for reparations, universal basic income, and even considering allowing non-citizens to vote. Nothing surprises me anymore.
Final Thought
So, to answer the original question: What does the Democrat Party have against law and order? Everything. Because law and order requires standards. It requires accountability. It requires moral clarity and the courage to say “no” to people—even if it makes you unpopular at a drum circle.
The Democrats don’t want that. They want chaos they can manage. They want emotion without consequence. And they want power—at any cost.
But in the real world, we can’t afford that. Not in our cities, not in our neighborhoods, not in our schools—and not at our borders.
We need law and order. And we need to stop apologizing for saying so.
