Let me tell you a little something about Dwight Patel. You don’t just know Dwight—you experience Dwight. And today, on his 53rd birthday, it’s only right that we pause our regularly scheduled programming to honor a man who’s done it all: political wizard, tech guru, design maestro, and the unofficial Mayor of Republicantown in Montgomery County.

I mean, come on. Who else do you know who can run a Drupal migration while debating the finer points of Reaganomics—and win both battles?

The Brainpower of a Supercomputer

Dwight’s the kind of guy who can design a website with one hand and dismantle a progressive tax argument with the other. His brain? A cross between a NASA server and a vintage issue of National Review. This is a man who knows exactly when to bring up the Laffer Curve during dinner—and will do so without warning. You think you’re eating Pizza in Annapolis, and boom—supply-side economics lecture. With diagrams.

Need someone to explain the Chunnel, quote Milton Friedman, and Photoshop a “Tax Hike Alert” meme for Maryland Democrats in the same afternoon? Dwight’s your guy.

Politics, But Make It Dwight

Dwight isn’t just in Republican politics—he is Republican politics. Vice Chair of the Maryland GOP, he’s been organizing, strategizing, and occasionally improvising (usually with pizza involved) longer than some of you have been eligible to vote. He has mentored many young conservatives (including yours truly), inspired political candidates in numerous campaigns, and led several think tank leaders around the country.  And let’s not forget his campaign run—because even when he loses, he wins style points.

Some men wear suits. Dwight commands a tieless look with a blazer; he is the political equivalent of Detective Columbo. And he has lapel pins for every occasion.

The Eye of an Artist

Dwight is not just a digital savant and political juggernaut—he’s also got a photographer’s soul. This is the man who’s been behind a camera since the Reagan years, capturing moments, light, and once, an actual UFO (he swears it was a lens flare, but I’m still not convinced).

His photos aren’t just pictures—they’re mood boards for America. One shot of Ocean City at sunrise and suddenly you’re humming the Star-Spangled Banner.

Tech Titan with a Sense of Humor

If you ever want to see a grown man laugh at government waste while casually rewriting a CMS stylesheet, pull up a chair next to Dwight. Whether it’s a WordPress catastrophe or a SharePoint disaster, Dwight doesn’t just fix it—he roasts it first.

And don’t get him started on the $3.9 million Baltimore City spent on a website. He’s been holding back a nuclear-grade commentary for months. (Spoiler alert: it’s coming.)

Birthday Vibes

So today, we raise a glass—filled with sparkling water or Screw Driver with pineapple juice with his 20/80 ratio or possibly Coke Zero —to Dwight Patel. At 53, he’s still the sharpest wit in the room, the best-dressed guy (well lets say that its his birthday) at GOP events, and the only person who can explain IPv6 routing, the history of the MA&PA Railroad, and what Reagan really meant in 1986—all before dessert.

Happy Birthday, Dwight. The Schwartz family salutes you, the Hot Wheels collectors envy you, and Maryland is lucky to have you.
