The mainstream media keeps saying New York City’s mayoral race is a two-man show. They’d have you believe it’s a choice between Andrew Cuomo – the disgraced former governor looking for a comeback – and Zohran Mamdani – a far-left radical dressed up as a “Democratic Socialist,” whatever that means. But here’s the truth: the difference between Cuomo and Mamdani is about a dime’s worth of policy. And New Yorkers deserve more than two sides of the same rotten apple.
The False Choice
Cuomo represents the old political machine that bankrupted New York. Mamdani represents the new socialist clique trying to finish the job. Between the two of them, it’s a contest of who can tax you harder, regulate you more, and make sure law-abiding citizens feel less safe. Cuomo calls himself a centrist now, but no one should forget he’s the man who shut down small businesses, forced seniors into nursing homes during the pandemic, and then lied about the death toll. Mamdani, meanwhile, praises socialist dictators abroad and calls police reform “abolition.” Neither man believes in law and order. Neither believes in letting New Yorkers keep more of their own money. Neither believes in freedom over government control.
A Dime’s Worth of Difference
Let’s be clear. Cuomo and Mamdani share more than they differ:
- Taxes: Both support higher taxes on “the rich” – which always ends up meaning anyone who works for a living in this city.
- Policing: Both oppose serious policing. Cuomo gutted NYPD morale during his governorship. Mamdani wants to defund them outright.
- Housing: Both want government-run housing programs instead of empowering developers and landlords to create affordable units through supply and competition.
- Business: Both believe in more regulation, higher minimum wages, and “climate justice” mandates that strangle small business owners.
- Education: Both pander to the teachers’ unions, oppose school choice, and ignore parents who want better for their kids.
- Energy: Both push Green New Deal-style policies that drive up energy costs while the rest of us sit in the dark during brownouts.
Two different brands, same failed product.
The Real Alternative: Curtis Sliwa
New Yorkers don’t need more career politicians or activist professors pretending to understand working-class life. They need someone who’s lived it – someone who’s actually been in the subway cars, not chauffeured past them. That man is Curtis Sliwa.
Sliwa founded the Guardian Angels when the city was on its knees in the late 1970s. No government grants. No fancy titles. Just courage, a red beret, and a mission to make the city safer. He’s ridden the subways, walked the streets, and faced real danger to protect ordinary New Yorkers. That’s leadership you can trust – not from behind a podium, but from the front lines.

He’s an America First candidate in the truest sense – putting the people who live and work in this city before globalist trends or activist slogans.
What’s at Stake
Cuomo and Mamdani offer two roads to the same dead end. One is paved with political arrogance, the other with ideological extremism. Either way, the result is the same: higher crime, higher taxes, fewer jobs, and fewer freedoms. Under their leadership, the city’s economy will keep shrinking while the government grows larger and more intrusive.
Curtis Sliwa offers something different – a return to common sense. He knows that public safety isn’t a talking point; it’s the foundation of everything else. Without it, there’s no business growth, no tourism, no opportunity. He understands that prosperity starts when people can afford to live and work here, not when bureaucrats dictate what car you can drive or what stove you can own.

The media won’t tell you this because they’ve decided the script already. But voters still have the final say. New Yorkers don’t have to settle for the false choice between Andrew Cuomo’s corruption and Zohran Mamdani’s socialism.
