Contrast that with President Biden’s handling of Hurricane Helene. North Carolina recently suffered major flooding and storm damage, yet when a reporter asked Biden about the situation, he had no clue the disaster had even occurred. Imagine if Bush had responded to Katrina this way. The media would have had a field day, running the clip of his cluelessness on repeat. But Biden? A few outlets mentioned it in passing, while the majority of the media either ignored the moment or quickly moved on to other topics. It’s only on Fox News and Newsmax that Biden’s ignorance and lack of leadership are being rightfully criticized.
The Biden-Harris administration’s response—or rather, lack of response—to Hurricane Helene is an embarrassing display of incompetence. FEMA has been slow to deploy resources, and instead of taking swift action to help those affected, Biden’s team is claiming that FEMA is out of money. Out of money? The same administration that has found billions of dollars to support illegal immigrants crossing our southern border can’t seem to find funds to help Americans in crisis. Where is the outrage?
The fact that this claim is being made while billions are being funneled into supporting people who have entered the country illegally only adds insult to injury. What happened to putting Americans first? It seems that in Biden’s America, legal citizens take a back seat to those who break the law. He strengthened FEMA and reformed disaster response policies, ensuring that future administrations would be better prepared. He owned up to his administration’s shortcomings and made strides to improve, even in the face of relentless media attacks.
President Biden, on the other hand, seems content to deflect blame and make excuses. FEMA is out of money, we’re told, even though there has been no shortage of funding for every other liberal pet project the administration has thrown its weight behind. Billions for illegal immigrants, but not a dime for the Americans in North Carolina whose homes and livelihoods have been devastated.
Moreover, Biden’s ignorance about the flooding is an embarrassment that speaks volumes about the administration’s priorities. It’s not just a slip-up; it’s emblematic of an administration more concerned with political optics and social programs for non-citizens than it is with the well-being of its own people. The Biden-Harris team has proven time and again that they are inept when it comes to crisis management, whether it’s the border crisis, inflation, or now, natural disasters.
What’s most concerning is that we live in a time when the media should be holding our leaders accountable, yet they’re more interested in protecting the president than reporting the facts. When Bush was president, every misstep was scrutinized, and every delay in Katrina response was amplified. Yet Biden’s negligence during Hurricane Helene has been all but ignored by mainstream outlets. The people of North Carolina deserve better. The American public deserves better. And quite frankly, President Biden deserves the same level of scrutiny that President Bush faced nearly two decades ago.
