Every election cycle, we hear the same tired lines from career politicians about “change,” “accountability,” and “fighting for working families.” Yet somehow, things only ever seem to get worse. Crime ticks up, taxes creep higher, and the political class pats itself on the back while Maryland families feel more squeezed than ever. That’s why Cheryl Riley feels different. She’s not a politician polishing talking points. She’s a proud Christian and unapologetic America First conservative who actually understands what’s gone wrong — and more importantly, what it will take to fix it.
I grew up right here in Montgomery County. I’ve seen firsthand what decades of one-party rule and progressive experiments have done. Schools once focused on excellence now focus on ideological social engineering. Taxes pile up like snow on River Road in a February storm. Criminals roam the streets while lawmakers write bills to protect feelings instead of families. And every legislative session brings another round of benefits for illegal immigrants even as citizens struggle to afford groceries. Marylanders deserve better — and Cheryl Riley is one of the rare candidates saying it clearly.
Safety: The First Duty of Government
Cheryl doesn’t tiptoe around the issue of public safety. She says what every normal Marylander already knows: if seniors can’t walk to the pharmacy, if women can’t shop without fear, if kids can’t take a bike ride without watching their backs, then nothing else matters.
But Annapolis elites have spent years treating criminals like the real victims. Judges hand out slaps on the wrist, prosecutors decline cases, and the same offenders cycle through the system while residents lock their doors a little earlier every night.
Cheryl is blunt: a society that can’t protect the vulnerable isn’t a society at all. In Congress, she intends to push for policies that help restore law and order — keeping violent offenders off the street, supporting law enforcement, and empowering families instead of coddling criminals. It’s common sense that somehow became controversial.
Prosperity: Let Marylanders Breathe Again
Maryland used to be a place where a good idea, some grit, and a little luck could build a future. Today, entrepreneurs are treated like piñatas. State and local leaders seem obsessed with creating new ways to suffocate small businesses with fees, regulations, and penalties — and then wonder why those same businesses pack up for Florida, Texas, or Virginia.
Cheryl understands that prosperity doesn’t come from government micromanagement — it comes from people being allowed to work hard without being punished for their success. She wants to promote pro-growth policies that bring investment back to Maryland, protect jobs, and strengthen American businesses rather than shipping opportunities overseas.
Her message is simple: let American workers and businesses thrive, and America thrives with them.
Freedom: The Core of the American Idea
“Democratic Socialism” — or, as Cheryl accurately calls it, the soft-focus version of Communism — has crept into our institutions. It’s in our classrooms, our local governments, and even in the rhetoric of people who think taking away your freedom somehow makes them morally superior.
But Cheryl Riley has no patience for ideological cosplay. She believes in limited government, personal responsibility, and the old-fashioned idea that adults should live without nanny-state supervision. Freedom isn’t a slogan to Cheryl; it’s the foundation that makes the United States the greatest country on Earth.
In Congress, her mission is to push back against the left’s expansionist agenda and keep these disastrous socialist ideas exactly where they belong — in the history books and nowhere near public policy.
A Fight Worth Having
Maryland is at a crossroads. We can continue down the same path of higher taxes, failing schools, soft-on-crime policies, and ideological experiments. Or we can choose leaders like Cheryl Riley who see the world clearly, love their country unapologetically, and aren’t afraid to say what needs to be said.
Cheryl is running for Congress because she believes Maryland deserves safer streets, stronger families, better opportunities, and a government that respects its citizens instead of undermining them. And as someone who’s watched this state lose its way for decades, I can tell you — she’s exactly the kind of fighter we need.
