Diana’s legacy spans nearly two decades of service, during which she helped shape the direction of the Maryland GOP and championed the conservative cause with unwavering dedication. Her passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill, but her impact will be felt for generations.
Diana’s journey in Maryland Republican politics began with her role as a founding member of the Chesapeake Republican Women, where she served as Treasurer and twice as President. From those early days, she exhibited the qualities that would define her career: resilience, integrity, and an ability to connect with people on a personal level. Her leadership within the Maryland Republican Party was exemplary. She served as 1st Vice Chair from 2010 to 2013 and later as Chair from 2013 to 2017. Diana brought professionalism, compassion, and dedication in every role that set her apart.
One of her most remarkable achievements as MDGOP Chair was transforming the party’s financial standing. When Diana assumed leadership, the MDGOP struggled, burdened with $150,000 in debt and only $10,000 cash. She reversed that situation Through relentless work, fundraising, and intelligent financial management, leaving the MDGOP debt-free and $250,000 in the bank. This transformation was more than just a financial turnaround—it was a testament to Diana’s skill, vision, and belief that the Republican Party in Maryland could succeed despite the odds.
Her tenure as Chair also saw significant electoral victories. Under her leadership, the Maryland GOP gained 11 seats in the General Assembly and played a key role in the election of Governor Larry Hogan. Over 50 Republicans were elected to local offices, reshaping the political landscape across the state. Diana’s ability to unite the party, rally volunteers, and motivate candidates was second to none. Her efforts built a foundation for lasting success and showed that even in a deep-blue state like Maryland, the Republican Party could thrive with the right leadership.
Perhaps one of the most challenging yet inspiring chapters of Diana’s life came when she was diagnosed with cancer. But even during her battle with illness, Diana did not slow down. She continued to work tirelessly for the causes she believed in, attending meetings, planning events, and mentoring the next generation of Republican leaders. In 2016, Diana played an instrumental role as Chair of the Maryland delegation to the Republican National Convention, a pivotal year for the GOP as the party nominated Donald Trump for President. Diana’s leadership during this critical time ensured that Maryland’s Republican voices were heard. She was committed to rallying the state behind the nominee and ensuring a unified effort going into the general election. In a time of great political division, Diana’s focus on unity and the greater good of the party stood out, showing her ability to navigate complex political landscapes with poise and clarity. Her work helped pave the way for the party’s future successes, including the continued momentum under the Trump administration.
Beyond her formal roles, Diana had a profound influence on individuals. Whether through her work with the Queen Anne’s County Republican Central Committee or her involvement in grassroots efforts like Women for Kelly Schulz for Governor, she brought people together. She was a mentor, a friend, and a confidante to countless individuals within the party. She went out of her way to welcome new faces and ensure every voice felt heard. Her work with the Maryland Federation of Republican Women (MFRW) helped make the organization the powerhouse it is today, amplifying the voices of Republican women and ensuring they had a seat at the table.
Diana’s leadership extended far beyond Maryland. She served on the Advisory Council for the Republican Women’s Federal Forum, where her influence reached a national audience. Whether organizing local campaigns, leading state efforts, or representing Maryland nationally, Diana carried herself with a rare blend of humility and strength.
